Discovering British Family Getaways

If you are planning your holidays, you may wish to consider the variety offered by British getaways. The UK has a lot of interesting places to visit. You can choose to relax at the seaside in Skegness or the hustle and bustle offered by cities such as London or Edinburgh.

If you are attracted by all the things to do in a city break, then London is the place for you. You can visit any of the world class theatres in the West End. There you can watch anything from a musical to a classical play. The choice is yours.

You also have a wide choice of museums to visit, and the entrance to most of these is free. The Natural History Museum is a great place for the kids to enjoy a day out. The interactive displays will keep them occupied for hours.

But if you are after some peace and quiet away from the big city, then you may wish to explore the Lake District. Situated on the North East of England, it has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Photographers and artists will be enthralled by its beauty.

The coastal town of Skegness is a fantastic place to go for a seaside holiday. The children will love the donkey rides on the beach. There is also a funfair all the year round. Nature lovers can visit Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve, and you could even see a seal if you are lucky.

At a distance of around 50 miles from Skegness is the city of Lincoln. This city is steeped in history, and Lincoln Castle hosts the Magna Carta of 1215. Lincoln Cathedral is another magnificent architectural building.

Less than an hour’s drive from Lincoln you will find yourself in Sherwood Forest, of Robin Hood fame. You can see the Major Oak, which is rumoured to be one of Robin’s favourite hiding places. British getaways have all this plus much, much more to offer.
